Turning the Page

Wow, so much has changed so recently. For anyone who doesn't know, Jeth and I live in St. George, UT. We bought a house and a dog there. I have been working at Smith's while Jeth has been working for a window cleaning company out of SLC. It's been pretty rough with his job.

Well, Jeth just got an offer for a new job with Layne Christensen Drilling. He's based in Tuscan, AZ right now. He's gone for 10 days and home for 4. So far he has really liked it. His first hitch was interesting. The guys he was working with were super lazy and didn't like him because they didn't like his brother that he works with. They moved him to a different crew for his second hitch (that he's on right now) and they are a lot nicer. They get along really well. More importantly they're actually teaching Jeth how to do this job. Now he's getting the hang of it and is loving life. Drilling pays really well so I can finally quit my job and do the things that I have wanted/needed to do. I'm going to start the spring semester at Dixie so I can finish my generals. Then I'll transfer to SUU to finish my degree in education. While I am doing this, Jeth and I are going to be foster parents. We have wanted a baby for a long time. Since we have not had this blessing and there are so many children out there who need some stable parents, we decided we wanted to help. My classes start in October in Cedar City. I was going to start the classes in Manti, but they started on my nephew's first birthday. Sorry, I can't miss that.

After I finish my degree, Jeth is going to quit with Layne Christensen and go to school himself. He wants to get a degree in Carpentry. He wants to own his own business making furniture. He's going to do such a good job with that. He already makes some of our furniture and he's pretty good!!

I can't tell you how much of a relief this has been on both of us. Well, wish us luck!

Check The Package Before You Pee On It

This weekend Jeth and I went on a vacation!! We went to San Diego with Papa, Lucy, and Pokey Saturday-Sunday. We went to the Chargers vs. Cowboys game. Go boys!!!!! Sunday we drove to Arizona so that Jeth could start his new job!! Yeah honey!! While Jeth worked I got to spend some fantastic quality time with Mary, Jake, and Kristin. It was so stinking fun!!
Jeth and I have been trying for a baby for some time now. I am supposed to start my period on Saturday. I had found a box of 7 pregnancy tests at home when I was unpacking so I brought a couple of those with us. I was feeling a little anxious to know whether I was preggers or not so I took a pregnancy test. Jeth took off for work at 5:30 am. I took the test as soon as he left. I have a ritual (and yes, I've done this often enough, I can call it a ritual) when I take these tests. I pee on the stick and then set it to the side while I wash my hands and brace myself for the answer. After a couple deep breaths I went over to look at the result. I saw the one stripe, felt a little sad, and went to throw it away. As I was opening the cupboard door I noticed a second line. . . faint, but still there. I was so excited!!!! I actually started full on bawling tears of joy. I almost called Jeth to tell him except that I knew that his day was going to be really long as it was. I couldn't make it longer. I sat there on the couch looking at the test. I was afraid if I looked away the second line was going to fade. Silly, I know, but when you've been trying for 2 1/2 years you begin to understand that luck is not your friend. In fact, I was really close to waking Mary up so that she could look at it and tell me if she saw it too. While I was sitting there, I got to thinking that I couldn't remember when I bought a box of 7 pregnancy tests. I didn't remember there ever being a box that I could buy that carried that many. But hey, I was sure glad I did!! I continued thinking about it and realized that I do remember buying a box of 7 ovulation tests. I gasped, ran into the bedroom to see what the package said, and sure enough, in little writing on the bottom, it was an ovulation test - not a pregnancy test. I was sure glad that I didn't call Jeth because chances are we would've kept talking about it and I wouldn't have realized my mistake. We would've told everyone we were pregnant until we found out from the doctor that we weren't. That would have been really hard. So, moral to the story: Make sure you're peeing on the right stick.

Watch Those Locked Doors

When I work as a Customer Service Manager, I work until midnight. I am the only one in the store with keys to the managers' office, the safe room, and the room we call the candy room. The candy room keeps, backstock, candy, cleaning supplies for the front end, and all the items that need to go back out on the shelf. All these doors need to be locked before I go home.

This particular day, I arrived at work and we were really really busy. Usually I have a second to put my stuff away (if I bring any). I happened to have brought my purse today. I put my keys in it and threw it in the candy room. Purses can't be on the registers and the lockers are upstairs and kinda far away. I didn't have time to take it up there.

At the end of the night, I have to leave all my keys in the safe room for the manager the next day. I made sure that I didn't need to get back into the safe room and locked the keys in. Then I went to the candy room and closed the door (it locks automatically). I needed to pick up some milk before I left. I reached my hand into my pocket to make sure I had my debit card. That was when I realized that I had locked my purse in the candy room and had locked my keys into the safe room. Holy crap. . .

I talked with the gal at the self checkout to see if she had any ideas. She told me that I could use a credit card to break in the door. She said that she had to get in and that's what she does when it's locked. I called the Non-Food Asst because sometimes they have to get their backstock out of there. Bruce came up and used my card to try to break in. Guess what, a card doesn't work. I don't know what this lady was on, but she sure doesn't get into that room with a damn credit card. We tried every key that we could find. None worked. I called several people that had keys to that room, no answer. I felt so bad calling once as it was, because it was 12:30 in the morning at this point. Oh, and of course, Jeth was out of town. I told Bruce and the check out lady that I was going to have to walk home if we couldn't get in. After several attempts, Bruce told me he didn't know what to tell me. He went back to work. I waved good bye to the check out lady and she waved back. As I walked out, I tried calling a neighbor to see if I could crash at her house. You see, not only were the keys to my car on that keychain, but so are the keys to my house. I was really locked out. But if course, it is at this time 1:00 in the morning and she is dead asleep. No answer. I figured I could break into my backyard and sleep in my hammock though. So I got on the phone with Jeth and started walking.

I tell you what, St. George, is really dark at night. It's a little eerie walking down the street without any lights on in any shop. It was stinking horrifying!! All I could think of was all those stories of those women who go walking at night and are never seen again. I walked for 2 hours and was about 5 minutes from my house when I got a phone call. I answered, it was Bruce letting me know that they got into the candy room and had my purse for me. I about died! I told Bruce that I would start back and would be there in a couple of hours. He was very surprised that I was walking. He said that he would come and get me.

Did you know that emotions can come in physical form? They do!! When you have all these intense emotions for so long, and suddenly your tension is relieved, it all comes out as tears. I mean it!! And let me tell you, all my tension was released. I started bawling in the parking lot of Maverick. Poor Bruce looked like he wasn't quite sure what to do with me. He just started talking to me about other random things so I wasn't thinking about what happened. When we got back he told me that he didn't realize that I was walking or he would have driven me home. I don't think he was really awake enough to comprehend what i was saying earlier. Back at the store the check out lady laughed like this was all just really funny. She told me that she had forgotten that I had locked my purse in. She said that she had to get in there to get the candy out. Since it is locked every night, she just has the floor guy climb through the roof. When she saw my purse she remembered that I needed it. Credit card huh? Stupid woman. I've never been that tempted to spit in someone's face. She said that she didn't realize I was leaving. I reminded her that I had waved and said good bye. She thought I was just waving for fun. Right. . . I grabbed my milk that I needed, OJ just because it looked good, and Oreos just because it had been that bad of a night. By the time that I got home it was 3:30 in the morning. I was emotionally drained, my dog was hungry, and I needed my husband. What a night. At least I had my Oreos, right.

New Blog

I have started a new blog. I will of course continue this one. The new one is more documenting a challenge I have set for myself. It should be fun. If you are interested, I have a link on my page. Or rather, I will have a link on my page as soon as I finish this post. However, if there is a link shortage on my page, that is simply due to my rather limited blogging abilities and as so, consider this a cry for help. HELP!!!!!

Update on Funky Syndrome

As many of you probably know, Jeth and I have been trying to have a baby for 2 1/2 years now. We hadn't started any kind of medication thus far. When I went to our family doctor, he started talking to me about my cycle along with a few other questions. He said that he thought that I had Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. Mouthful, I know. It has something to do with an insulin problem that attacks your ovaries, causing a woman to not ovulate. This is semi-mandatory in getting pregnant. So, I made an appointment with a girlie doctor.

The girlie doctor did her routine violation. Then we talked about this syndrome and what it entailed. I had to go get some blood drawn (that was the funnest part about this visit). She called me today with the test results. Everything is normal. I'm fine. No funky syndrome. They checked everything she could think of. I'm as healthy as a horse. Nothing even looking semi-funky. So, I'm going to get started on some medication that is supposed to jump-start my ovaries. I feel like a truck. . . She said that if this works I will be pregnant within a couple of months. She seemed optomistic that it would. If not, I'm going to try another medication for a couple of months. If that doesn't work, then Jethro is going to go through his excruciatingly not fun testing. Poor guy. . . :s So, we'll keep everyone posted, but it sounds like there might be a spring baby!!!!

Halloween

Halloween was so fun this year!! This was the first Halloween that Jeth and I were both in our own place for. It was so fun. We bought some Halloween decorations since we didn't have any. One of which was a skull that will spit out mist. The eyes also change colors. It's really fun!! When we set it up, we turned off all the lights to get the maximum affect. Jordon and I were looking at it from the back and Jeth was looking at it from the front. Jeth came around the table to take a look at it from the back and "accidentally" tripped on the cord. The skull pivoted around and stared at Jordon and I. Jordon screamed and took off to the kitchen. I tried, but there was a wall in the way. Jeth was on the floor laughing as hard as he could. Meanwhile he's asking for forgiveness. Call me crazy, but I don't think he was really sorry.
Halloween night we watched scary movies, of course. We bought a butt load of candy expecting lots of trick-or-treaters. We had them twice. The first one was about 5, 30-year old Mexicans. I was really tempted to slam the door in their face and tell them they should be ashamed of themselves. The second, and last one, was a cute little 4-year old little boy. He was so cute!!! Needless to say, we have lots and lots and lots of candy left over. As a side note, I HATE trunk or treat. No one knocks on the door anymore because they do the trunk or treat. It makes me sad. . . But in the end, Halloween was so much fun.

I'm Not Spoiled. . . My Husband Just Loves Me

So I have been thoroughly . . . um. . . we'll say pampered this weekend. As you can see from previous posts, we have some newly painted walls. In addition to the painted walls there were a few other things that Jeth got for me this weekend.

1) A "Welcome" mat!! I have been wanting one since before we moved down here. We just hadn't found one that we loved. Well, we found it.

2) A mirror!! The bathroom mirror was severly intolerable. If you've read the previous entry, you'll know what Jeth and Jordon went through to get it off so we could paint behind it. The new mirror is tan with little shwupples in it. (Yes shwupples is a word.) It looks like a sandy beach which fits perfectly with our lighthouse theme going on.

3) Since we've been married, Jeth and I have kept our movies and CD's in an old dresser of Jeth's. I've always wanted something that we can have out to put them in. So Jeth said that he would make me something. He took the Lowe's gift certificate that the seller's of our house gave to us and bought everything that he would need for it. Then he kept everything outside in his shed so I wouldn't see it. I was expecting this to take a really really really long time to get finished. But lo and behold I get home from work today and BAM! it's there, in the living room, all set up with the movies on it!! I was so excited!!

So, as I said, this has been a week of pampering, not spoiling. My hubby just loves me lots and lots!! :)
